Daryl Mitchell’s century proved decisive as Worcestershire defeated Bangladesh A by 6 wickets at New Road.
The visitors elected to bat first and the openers, Shamsur Rahman and Anamul Haque, put on 77 for the first wicket in 15 overs, before Rahman (22) was caught at cover by Brett D’Oliveira off Shaaiq Choudhry.
A Haque went to his 50 off 49 balls before Choudhry struck again when Jahurul Islam (9) was caught at slip by Mitchell and then, after being dropped by Alexei Kervezee at deep mid-wicket on 70, A Haque reached his century off 119 balls before he was caught by Mitchell off Choudhry (3-35 off 10 overs) for 110 off 122 balls, with 8 fours and 3 sixes, with the score on 198-3 in the 39th over.
Mominul Haque also went past 50 before he edged behind to Ben Cox off Mitchell for 64 off 60 balls, with 6 fours and 1 six, and then the visitors also lost Ziaur Rahman (2), Marshall Ayub (1), Sohag Gazi (0) and Robiul Islam (7) as Bangladesh A ended up on 274-8 off their 40 overs, with Naeem Islam unbeaten on 47 off 35 balls, with 6 fours and 1 six.
In reply Mitchell and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, on his List A debut, put on an opening partnership of 97 before Kohler-Cadmore was bowled by Elias Sunny for 47 off 52 balls and then Kervezee joined Mitchell by adding 92 for the second wicket until Kervezee was caught by M Haque at mid-wicket off Gazi for 45 off 35 balls.
Mitchell went on to reach his century off 99 balls before he was caught at point by N Islam off Gazi for 101 off 102 balls, with 9 fours and 1 six, and although Ross Whiteley departed for 7 when he was run out by M Haque Worcestershire reached their target with 15 balls to spare thanks to Tom Fell (42*) and Joe Leach (21*).
