Worcestershire hosted the Netherlands in their final home Clydesdale Bank 40 match of the season. The only change from the previous high scoring match the previous week at Horsham was the return of Alexei Kervezee in the place of Vikram Solanki. Daryl Mitchell won the toss for the Worcestershire and elected to bat first.

Worcestershire made a slow but steady start to their innings with Aneesh Kapil opening the innings with Moeen Ali in the absence of his normal opening partner. After the loss of two wickets in the first ten overs the home side recovered with another fine innings from Moeen Ali who shared a 3rd wicket stand of of 99 with James Cameron. The partnership was broken when Cameron was caught by the Dutch skipper Peter Borren to a sharp low diving catch at cover point off the bowling of Tim Gruijters for 42. Moeen Ali went on to score a measured 117 off 110 deliveries, his second List A century in consecutive matches.

From being 172-3 by the 30th over Worcestershire only managed to reach 239-7 by the end of their 40 over allocation with the innings falling away slightly after the dismissal of Moeen Ali. Mudassar Bukhari was the pick of the Dutch bowlers with career best figures of 4-41 from his 8 over allocation.

Jack Shantry made an immediate impact when the Netherlands innings started, with two caught and bowled dismissals in his first over. However the Netherlands recovered well with an experienced batting line up and were soon scoring at the required six runs per over helped by a innings of 55 by Stephan Myburgh who was eventually dismissed by a run out by Jack Shantry after being called for a run that was never on.

A 5th wicket stand of 60 in between Borren (29) and Wesley Baressi was the key to the Netherlands run chase. Borren was eventually dismissed by a catch to mid-on by Gareth Andrew off the bowling of Nick Harrison, giving the youngster his first senior wicket.

Baressi survived a difficult catch attempt when on 73 to finish unbeaten on 97* off 84 deliveries with 14 boundaries as the Netherlands reached their victory target with just two balls to spare. Jack Shantry finished with figures of 3-39 in his 8 over allocation.

Netherlands (240-8) beat Worcestershire (239-7) by 2 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
