Match Report:
Worcestershire secured their first win in the Second XI 40-Over Trophy with a 24 run win, under the Duckworth/Lewis method, over Unicorns A at Kidderminster.

Play began on time at 12pm, with the visitors putting Worcestershire into bat, and Matt Pardoe played some attacking shots as, along with Tom-Kohler Cadmore, they put on 52 for the opening wicket.  Kohler-Cadmore was the first wicket to fall when he was bowled for 13 and 3 runs later Pardoe was lbw for 39, off 42 balls, before the players went off for rain with the score on 83-2 in the 17th over.

Play then resumed, with the match reduced to 28 overs per side, and the score had moved on to 88 when Alexei Kervezee was bowled for 18.  Captain Neil Pinner and Aneesh Kapil then accelerated as their fourth-wicket partnership had reached 47, in over 5 overs, before Kapil was bowled for 21 and Pinner was the fifth man out when he was caught for 39, off 39 balls, with the score on 149.

Shaaiq Choudhry (20*) and Brett D'Oliveira (11*) faced the remaining few overs as Worcestershire ended on 179-5 off 28 overs.

The Unicorns A reply, needing 197 under Duckworth/Lewis, also began brightly as James Campbell and James Ord had moved on 47-0 off 9 overs before another break for rain meant a further 3 overs were lost and the visitors had to chase a revised D/L target of 179 off 25 overs.

Campbell and Ord continued their pursuit as their opening partnership had reached 102 in the 20th over until Ord was bowled by Tom Underhill for 52, off 58 balls.  Choudhry then took the wicket of Campbell who was caught by Pinner for 58, off 62 balls, with the score on 116, but the run rate was increasing all the time and the third wicket soon fell when Jayden Levitt, going for a big shot on 1, was caught by Pinner, in the covers, off Underhill.

Vishal Tripathi and Brad Wadlan (13*) then took the Unicorns A score to 154 when Chris Russell bowled Tripathi (28), with the final ball of the match, as Worcestershire picked up the 2 points.

Underhill finished with 2-37 off 5 overs, Russell 1-30 off 5 overs, Choudhry 1-27 off 4 overs, Nick Harrison 0-17 off 5 overs, Kapil 0-29 off 4 overs and D'Oliveira 0-14 off 2 overs.
