Worcestershire 2nd XI defeated Yorkshire by 33 runs in their 2nd XI Trophy match at Pudsey Congs.
Due to a wet outfield the match was delayed by one hour and when play began at 1pm the match was reduced to 34 overs per side, with Yorkshire winning the toss and putting Worcestershire into bat.
After the early wickets of both Alexei Kervezee (0) and Jack Manuel (5), Ben Cox (41 off 42 balls, with 6 fours and 1 six), Neil Pinner (50 off 56 balls, with 9 fours), Matt Pardoe (68 off 47 balls, with 7 fours and 3 sixes) and Aneesh Kapil (38 off 33 balls, with 4 fours and 2 sixes) all made telling contributions as Worcestershire scored 224-7 off their 34 overs.
Yorkshire required 225 runs to win at a rate of 6.6 but despite the efforts of both Joe Sayers (49) and Alex Lees (46) the home side never looked likely to reach their target and they ended up on 191-9 off their 34 overs, with wickets taken by Chris Russell (3-44 off 7 overs), Richard Jones (2-36 off 7 overs), Shaaiq Choudhry (1-14 off 3 overs), Pinner (1-28 off 4 overs) and Brett D'Oliveira (1-30 off 6 overs).
