The Club is delighted to confirm that the first phase of the Ground Development Scheme at New Road will commence at the end of the current season and will honour two of the Club’s legendary Centurions – Graeme Hick and Tom Graveney OBE.
This first phase will involve the construction of the new Pavilion on the site of the existing Members Pavilion and will be named The Graeme Hick Pavilion. The core of the original Pavilion built in 1899 (currently the Members Bar and the Visitors Dressing Room) must be retained as it has considerable architectural merit and then rebuilt at some stage in the future on the site of the existing Ladies Pavilion.

The new Pavilion is a very contemporary design but retains the world famous views over the ground to the Cathedral. The glass frontage will enhance this view for those inside the building.
It will incorporate two floors with the ground floor being above the 1 in 150 year flood level thus enabling it to be used all year round without fear of flooding. The ground floor will include a new entrance foyer and the new Members Lounge to be called The Tom Graveney Lounge. The first floor will incorporate new player facilities including dressing rooms, a cricket office, the umpires room, the players dining room and a new physio/rehab facility. The seating area in front of the Pavilion will be completely re-built giving an additional 105 seats (a total of 321) plus an area for wheelchairs with lift access.

The budgeted cost of the project is just under £2m and it should be completed by late April/early May 2009. This may cause some early season inconvenience but arrangements will be put into place for players and members once the fixture list is known later in the year.
During construction, the Cricket Suite will operate as normal during the winter period and remain in situ for at least next summer. This means the business of the Club can continue uninterrupted during the entire construction of the Pavilion.
All the memorabilia in the Pavilion will be packaged and stored in a safe environment by a locally based professional contractor.
The Architects are Sid Glazzard and Rob Lett from Lett & Sweetland and the main contractors are Malvern based, Speller Metcalfe Ltd. Where possible all consultants and sub-contractors are locally based firms.
