Match Report
Imran Arif came into the side in the place of Richard Jones for the Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Somerset at Bath in front of a good sized festival crowd.

Worcestershire won the toss and elected to field first. Worcestershire picked up two early wickets to leave the home side on 25-2 at one stage. However a 3rd wicket stand of 86 between Craig Kieswetter and Zander de Bruyn helped the home side to recover.

Moeen Ali picked up the key wicket of Kieswetter for 52, caught by Phil Jaques in the gully. Former Worcestershire player de Bruyn top scored with 55 before being caught at the wicket by Ben Scott off the bowling of Daryl Mitchell.

At 189-8 in the 36th over it looked liked the home side could be kept to a fairly modest total, however Ben Phillips made good use of the batting power play overs as Somerset scored 50 runs in the last 5 overs. Phillips was unbeaten at the end on 51* off 34 balls as the home side reached 235-9 in their 40 over allocation.

Imran Arif and Jack Shantry both picked up a couple of wickets apiece with figures of 2-43 and 2-35 respectively.

In reply Worcestershire got off to the worst possible start losing a wicket with the first ball of the innings. Moeen Ali and Phil Jaques however looked settled as they completed a 2nd wicket stand of 63. However the momentum changed towards Somerset with the loss of Moeen (26) and Jaques (29) in the space of 10 balls.

Despite a battling 23 from Alexei Kervezee the Worcestershire reply never really got going and wickets fell at regular intervals with the visitors being dismissed for 164 in the 33rd over to give Somerset a 71 run victory.

Mark Turner finished with career best figures of 4-36, after taking the first and last wicket of the innings.

Worcestershire (164) lost to Somerset (235-9) by 71 runs.
