Match Report
Worcestershire named an unchanged side for the visit of Derbyshire Falcons to New Road on a hot, sunny day. Daryl Mitchell won the toss for Worcestershire and elected to bat first on the same pitch that was used for the previous match. Once again Jack Shantry bowled well in his opening spell in the power play overs.
Wes Durston top scored for the Falcons with 77 from 57 deliveries as Derbyshire were restricted to 147-7 in their 20 over allocation. James Cameron took 3-22 and Shantry 3-23 as Worcestershire combined a good all round bowling display with good ground fielding.
In reply Worcestershire chased down the target with just under 5 overs to spell helped mainly by an innings of 70 of just 42 deliveries by Phil Jaques including 11 boundaries. Moeen Ali also hit 45 in a 2nd wicket stand of 87 with Jaques in just 7.5 overs. The second successive victory for Worcestershire still gives the county an outside chance of making the quarter final stage.
Worcestershire (148-2) beat Derbyshire (147-7) by 8 wickets with 29 balls to spare.
