Worcestershire won both of their 2nd XI t20 matches against Somerset by 3 runs at Ombersley.

In the first match Worcestershire won the toss and chose to bat and Aneesh Kapil top-scored with 56 off 50 balls, with 8 fours, with contributions from Jack Manuel, 28 off 14 balls and Brett D'Oliveira, 20 off 23 balls as Worcestershire reached 145-6 off their 20 overs.

Somerset looked on course to get to their target of 146, when they were 74-2 in the 10th over, but Joe Leach, 3-23 off 4 overs, took the next three wickets to reduce the visitors to 101-5 in the 14th over and when Craig Meschede (38) was bowled by Nick Harrison, 1-34 off 4 overs, Somerset were 118-7 in the 16th over.  Kapil kept it tight, with figures of 2-19 off 4 overs, and when Chris Russell, 0-21 off 3 overs, came on to bowl the final over the visitors needed 8 runs to win but Russell kept his nerve as only four runs were scored and Somerset ended on 142-8, with Worcestershire winning by three runs.

In the second match Worcestershire again chose to bat after winning the toss and after losing three early wickets, with the score on 26 after 4 overs, captain Neil Pinner, who top-scored with 38 off just 27 balls, with 6 fours, and D'Oliveira, 32 off 32 balls, rescued the innings for the home side and along with a quickfire 19 off 13 balls from Tom Friend Worcestershire ended their innings on 139-9.

Somerset also lost early wickets as two run-outs occured in the 2nd over, from the throws of both Russell and Ben Cox, and after 4 overs Somerset were also on 26-3.  Chris Jones led the recovery for the visitors but then Shaaiq Choudhry, 2-16 off 4 overs, took the next two wickets to leave Somerset on 70-5 in the 11th over.  D'Oliveira, 1-14 off 2 overs, and Harrison, 1-21 off 4 overs, then both got in on the wickets column as the match headed for a tight finish and with 1 over to go Somerset needed 12 runs to win.  But they couldn't get over the finishing line as Harrison conceded 8 runs and Somerset had ended on 136-8, with Jones unbeaten on 62 off 50 balls, with 8 fours, as Worcestershire won again by three runs.
