TROPHY
Worcestershire lost their final 2nd XI Trophy group match against Durham by 25 runs at South Northumberland CC.
Worcestershire won the toss and put Durham into bat and in their 40 overs the home side scored 188-7, with Richard Jones taking 3-22 and Nick Harrison finishing with 2-30.
In reply Alexei Kervezee top-scored with 63 and Shaaiq Choudhry got 33 but Worcestershire were bowled out for 163 to lose by 25 runs.
With Lancashire defeating Yorkshire it now means that Durham top the group with 13 points and Lancashire go above Worcestershire into second place on run-rate, with both teams on 11 points.
Worcestershire's only hope of reaching the semi-finals is for Durham to win heavily against Lancashire on Tuesday 21st August and hope that Lancashire's run-rate goes below Worcestershire's run-rate.
CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 1
Worcestershire had a good first day as they ended up on 318-4 off 73 overs before rain brought an early end to the day at South Northumberland CC.
Worcestershire won the toss and elected to bat first and there were two centurions for Worcestershire as Tom Fell made 110 and Alexei Kervezee scored 107.
DAY 2
Worcestershire declared their first innings on 392-5 off 89 overs as Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored 73 and Shaaiq Choudhry made 32.
Durham were bowled out for 175 in their first innings off 41.2 overs, with Nick Harrison taking 4-40, Graeme Cessford getting 3-66 and the other wicket-takers were Jack Shantry (1-19) and Richard Jones (1-28).
Worcestershire enforced the follow-on and in their second innings Durham were 158-5 off 42 overs at stumps on the second day, still trailing by 59 runs, with Jack Shantry taking 2-26.
DAY 3
Worcestershire had a frustrating third and final day against Durham at South Northumberland CC as the weather denied the visitors a victory in their final Championship match of the season.
Due to rain there was no play in the morning session and when play got underway at 1:40pm Durham were grateful to Johan Myburgh, who scored 111, as the home side avoided an innings defeat. They were eventually bowled out for 236 off 70.5 overs, with Jack Shantry (2-45), Graeme Cessford (2-47), Richard Jones (2-50), Nick Harrison (2-54) & Shaaiq Choudhry (1-20) getting the wickets for the visitors.
Tea was then taken but then during the tea interval the rain returned and with Worcestershire only needing 20 runs to win the visitors were desparate for the rain to stop. But unfortunately the rain continued to fall and at 5:10pm the match had to be abandoned as a draw, with Worcestershire taking 11 points from this match.
