Abbott Enjoys Double Success As Proteas Keep Series Alive

Worcestershire 2016 overseas player, Kyle Abbott, was the pick of the South African bowlers in the third ODI with England in Centurion which his side won by seven wickets.

The Proteas paceman bowled four spells and ended with 2-50 from his 10 overs as England amassed 318-8 after electing to bat.

He bowled at a lively pace throughout and was South Africa's most economical bowler after Joe Root scored a fine 125 before being run out.

Abbott, who will be at New Road for the second half of the summer from early July, had to wait until his penultimate over to enjoy any tangible success but then struck twice in two balls.

First Ben Stokes (53) holed out to long off and immediately Chris Jordan (3) perished at deep extra cover.

Abbott bowled an initial spell of three overs after taking the new ball, then switched ends for a two over burst from the 10th over and then three more from the 31st to 35th before his late double breakthrough.

Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali, batting at number seven,  made three before he flicked Morne Morkel to deep backward square leg where Hashim Amla took a fine low catch.

South Africa made light of their task thanks to a first wicket stand stand of 239 in 37 overs between Quinton De Kock (135) and Amla (127) to reduce England's lead in the series to 2-1 with two matches to play.

Moeen finished with figures of 1-75 from 10 overs after dismissing David Wiese for seven.
