Worcestershire CCC Academy will be fielding a strong side in their three-day Tri-Series clash against Northamptonshire Academy at Bromsgrove CC starting tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11am.

With the second team not in action this week, top order batsmen Ollie Westbury and Josh Dell plus all-rounder Ben Twohig will be part of the Academy side.

But there are also several of the County’s exciting crop of talented Academy youngsters in action.

Academy coach Elliot Wilson said: “We haven’t quite really pulled up many trees in the games we’ve played against Leicestershire and Northamptonshire in the Tri-Series. We’ve been a bit short of the mark.

“We benefit this week from the inclusion of Ollie Westbury, Josh Dell and Ben Twohig who have all asked to play some extra cricket this week as there is no second team game.

“We’ve also got some exciting Academy players playing this week, the likes of Matt Davis, Adam Finch, Xavier Clarke, Zain Ul-Hassan, Callum Lea.

“It is a great opportunity for them to push their cases for Academy cricket this winter and second team cricket for the remainder of this summer.

“We’ve got two big games – a four-dayer with Surrey and a three-dayer with Leicestershire to finish in the Seconds.”

*Worcestershire CCC all-rounder Peter Clark was a member of the Midlands-North side which defeated London-South in the opening ‘Best Of Bunbury’s’ match at Loughborough.

Clark is part of the County’s satellite Shropshire academy which is run by former County paceman Paul Pridgeon

He had a bit part role in the Midlands-North’s win. His side scored 319-5 in 50 overs and then he bowled two overs for nine runs as TWELVE bowlers were used in dismissing London-South for 207 in 41 overs.

Top order batsman Alex Hinkley, who is part of Worcestershire CCC’s Under-15 age group programme and EDP programme, has also been chosen for the ‘Best Of Bunbury’s’ but did not feature in this game.
