Worcestershire all-rounder Wayne Parnell suffered a low grade tear hamstring injury during the Specsavers County Championship encounter with Sussex at Kidderminster.
The 29-year-old sustained the setback while bowling during the early part of Sussex’s second innings on the third afternoon of the drawn game.
Parnell was unable to take any further part in the match.
The injury is to his left hamstring and NOT the one in which he picked up a low grade tear during the Championship match with Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford.
Parnell is stepping up his rehab work and it is hoped he will be fit to be in contention for the Championship match against Derbyshire at Kidderminster beginning on Sunday, July 7.
The South African had made a significant impact when fit in what is the first season of a three year contract.
He was Worcestershire’s leading wicket-taker in the Royal London One-Day Cup and in the Championship has scored 136 runs at an average of 34.00 and taken 14 wickets at 22.78.
