Worcestershire CCC is delighted to announce that Gareth Andrew has signed a two year contract extension to remain at New Road until the end of the 2013 season.
The 2011 season has been highly successful for the 27 year old, having joined Worcestershire CCC from Somerset CCC in 2008. In the Friends Life t20 campaign, he was Worcestershire Royals second highest scorer with 257 runs, and took 19 wickets. The all-rounder also hit his career best t20 score of 65*, which helped to clinch what looked like an improbable victory against Warwickshire Bears at Edgbaston in June.
His consistent performances during the 2011 season, with both bat and ball, see him currently ranked second in the PCA's Overall MVP rankings behind Marcus Trescothick. Across all forms of cricket this season, Andrew has so far taken 53 wickets and scored 807 runs for Worcestershire CCC.
Andrew said "I am delighted to extend my contract with the Club for another two years. There's a great atmosphere in the dressing room and the team are progressing well for the future. Hopefully we can continue our development to maintain Division One status next year."
Director of Cricket, Steve Rhodes, also commented "To hold on to a player of Gareth's abilities is a huge boost to the Club and our supporters. His career is on an upward curve with the best years ahead of him."
