Worcestershire picked up 15 wickets on the opening day of the two-day friendly match with Northamptonshire at Northampton.
England Under-19 all-rounder Ed Barnard claimed five of them, including four in the Northants first innings after taking the new ball.
The plan was for Northants to bat 90 overs today with Worcestershire having the reciprocal amount of overs to bat tomorrow.
Northants elected to bat and were reduced to 56-4 with Barnard sending back Richard Levi, former Worcestershire opener Stephen Peters and Alex Wakely.
He finished with 4-54 from 14 overs.
Northants recovered to reach 318-8 declared from 70 overs thanks mainly to a stand of 102 for the seventh wicket between Adam Rossington (89) and David Willey (61).
They were both dismissed by Ross Whiteley who finished with 3-50 from nine overs.
Northants declared to enable their front-line batsman to have another knock but they again struggled for runs with the exception of Peters who was unbeaten on 56 out of 90-5 from 19 overs.
Alexei Kervezee came onto bowl towards the end of the day and finished with 3-2 from two overs.
Worcestershire will now have the opportunity to bat for 90 overs on their final day of warm-up cricket before the opening LV = County Championship match against Yorkshire at New Road starting on Sunday.
