BARNARD MAKES IMPACT WITH BAT AND BALL IN SCARBOROUGH SUCCESS

Ed Barnard picked up two wickets and top-scored with a quickfire half century in helping Scarborough to a three wicket win over Joondalup in a Western Australia Cricket Association first grade match.

The Worcestershire all-rounder took the new ball and finished with figures of 2-35 from his 10 overs as Joondalup reached 249-9 in their 50 overs.

He accounted for number three Clinton Hinchliffe (48) and number four and skipper Jaron Morgan (21).

Barnard was also Scarborough’s most economical bowler.

The England Lions player then made an important contribution with the bat after coming to the wicket at 72-2.

He made 55 of only 58 balls with one six and three fours to ensure Scarborough were well on course with their run rate.

Barnard was eventually fifth out with the total on 163.

But Liam Knight (40) and Liam Stevens (31) ensured Scarborough got over the finishing line with 2.3 overs to spare.

Victory boosted Barnard and Scarborough’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
