Ben Was Determined To Show “Humility” After Blast Final Triumph

Ben Cox has revealed how he was determined to show “humility” at the very moment he became Worcestershire’s Vitality Blast hero in the final triumph over Sussex Sharks at Edgbaston.

The County’s wicket-keeper batsman was mobbed by his team-mates after hitting the winning runs off Jofra Archer before picking up the man of the match award – his second on finals day.

But one of Cox’s first thoughts was to want to shake hands with the opposition after their five wicket defeat at the hands of the Rapids.

Cox said: “I can now look back and be able to tell my grandkids that we won a T20 trophy and I got both man of the match awards on the day.

“Was it the best day in my cricketing life? Yes. Winning any game when you’re there at end, hitting the winning runs, that’s always nice feeling.

“That feeling will always stick with me. It was a day to remember, put it that way.

“Almost like Mo (Moeen Ali) said, it’s about having a bit of humility when you win because there are going to be people on the other team feeling terrible.

“We’ve been through similar experiences but on the other end of the result, so it was nice coming out on top on finals day.”
