Birmingham School One Of Four Venues For “this Girl Can” Cricket Festival

Birmingham School One Of Four Venues For “this Girl Can” Cricket Festival

In the lead up to an Ashes summer, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are pleased to announce a new offer for women aged 14 and over.

Aligning to Sport England’s “This Girl Can” campaign, four fun, social, inclusive cricket festivals will take place over two weekends in June.

One of these festivals is being held at the King Edward School For Boys, Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham on June 14 from 10am until 4.30pm and will incorporate eight-a-side soft and hardball games.

Chatting, having a laugh and smashing the ball over the boundary will be delivered in equal measures through these festivals.

For less than the price of a cinema ticket (£5 per person/£25-35 per team) each participant will be handed a goody bag upon arrival which includes a team t-shirt, vouchers for food and drink throughout the day and other handy items.

Fabulous prizes will be available for many unique moments that capture the festival atmosphere of these festivals. #Thisgirlcan… play cricket!

Are you either new to cricket or an existing player?

If yes, then this event is for you… ECB want to provide a great experience through the introduction of social festivals for women's cricket.

We know you love to socialise, have fun and play cricket so why not combine the three!

Your morning games will be soft ball moving into hard ball games in the afternoon. We are keen to provide each participant with a new (or old) experience.

No cricket equipment is necessary – if you are a existing player bring your kit, if not we will provide all that need.

Travelling down on the Saturday night?

If so, we would like to invite you to attend a welome drinks reception at the Duck Inn, 176 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 9NR from 7-8pm.

Please could you inform the Festival Co-ordinator using the contact details below.

What will ECB ask participants to agree to when participating in this event?

ECB want you to enjoy your experience and be inspired to continue to enjoy cricket beyond the festival.

The only thing in return is asking you for your permission to take photos / videos of the event. If you are under 18 we may ask for your parent / guardian to confirm they are happy for this to happen.

Will I receive anything on sign up?

Yes – upon arrival at the festival each participant will be given a goody bag containing a team t-shirts and other exciting items!

A voucher for food and drink are also included within the goody bag.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions (including dietary requirements)?

Your event co-ordinator is Sue Laister – sue.laister@ecb.co.uk
