Brown Honoured By Praise Of England Legend Anderson

Worcestershire Rapids paceman Pat Brown said he was honoured to have received glowing praise for his Vitality Blast performances from one of his idols in England star James Anderson.

Brown turned in two more excellent displays with the ball against Lancashire Lightning and Sussex Sharks to help the Rapids lift the trophy for the first time.

He ended as the competition’s leading wicket-taker for the 2018 campaign with 31 victims.

Andrew, working as pundit for Radio Five Live Sport Extra at Blast finals day, said: “Pat Brown is possibly the find of the tournament.

“It is a phenomenal effort for a 19-20-year-old.

“He has had a good tournament but to come to finals day, when the pressure is on and show such amazing maturity, was superb.

“He looks as good as anyone I have seen In T20 cricket. He has got all the skills and lands the ball in the right areas.”

Brown said: “To be told what James Anderson has said, is nice to hear. It doesn’t get much better than that. He is one of my idols.

“For that to come from him, means a lot to me really. It is unbelievable.

“To have the leading seam bowler in world cricket ever say stuff even half nice about me is amazing.”

Brown has sparkled throughout the tournament and said: “I didn’t see it coming, that’s for sure.

“To be in this position, just turned 20 amongst boys who have been working their whole career to achieve it, I just feel so lucky and so proud.

“I’m thankful to get the opportunity to play with these boys who two years ago were my idols.”
