Worcestershire will look today to bounce back from Friday's NatWest T20 Blast setback against Derbyshire with Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes admitting: "You cannot dwell on anything in county cricket."
The County play host to Leicestershire in a Specsavers County Championship clash after being given yesterday off to recharge their batteries.
Worcestershire did not arrive back home until 3am on Friday morning after a six hour journey back from the T20 Blast encounter away to Durham Jets ahead of tackling Derbyshire later that day.
Rhodes said: "You cannot dwell on anything in county cricket because the games do come so thick and fast that you cannot afford to be in any mental state that is not appropriate going into a game.
"We've had a little chat after the Derbyshire game, trying to nail the points where we want to try and improve but also then putting that behind us and making sure when we arrive on Sunday we attack a four day game followed by a one-day game.
"The lads definitely had a breather yesterday. We've had a tough old campaign. I didn't get in bed until quarter past three because of the journey back from Durham.
"The lads needed a bit of a breather just to recover from that journey and then we go again."
Rhodes was full of praise for a superb knock from Ben Cox against Derbyshire which ultimately proved in vain.
Cox hit a competition best score of 59 not out off 29 balls and was given excellent support by Matt Henry with 35 not out off 15 balls as 62 off the last four overs to set a challenging 186 target.
But Wayne Madsen's unbeaten 59 sealed victory for Derbyshire with seven balls to spare.
Rhodes, reflecting on his side's setback, said: "There are definitely areas we can improve upon and when we are playing at our very best we would do better than that.
"If you look at our innings, we probably lost too many wickets early doors but then we saw an absolutely amazing innings from Ben Cox.
"I thought he was outstanding the way he executed the shots he wanted to play and his innovation was outstanding.
"His partnership with Matt Henry, who also played beautifuly, was great to get us to a total that we felt was a reasonable total and defenitely defendable.
"But it was a good wicket, shortish edges (boundaries) and not easy for the bowlers but having said all that, I thought Derbyshire went about the chase in a very good fashion.
"Wayne Madsen's innings in particularly towards the end was outstanding, just like Ben Cox's for us and possibly we didn't execute as well with the ball as we would have liked to.
"We had some reasonable plans but I think the bowlers will also take it on the chin like the top order batters who could have done better.
"We got out in some strange fashions but that's what happens in the game. I know a lot of the top order will be hurting and will want to have played more match-winning contributions.
"Let's also not take anything away from Wayne Madsen and the way he played and he certainly went about chasing down a score and winning the game in fantastic fashion.
"He is a good player who seems to get better each year that comes along and he thoroughly deserved his man of the match award."
