CAPTAIN ADCOCK’S FINE KNOCK IN VAIN FOR WOMEN’S RAPIDS

CAPTAIN ADCOCK’S FINE KNOCK IN VAIN FOR WOMEN’S RAPIDS

A superb knock from captain Georgie Adcock proved in vain for Worcestershire Women’s Rapids who went down by 31 runs to Durham after a major collapse in the ECB Royal London County One-Day Championship at Brandon CC.

Opener Adcock hit 75 and looked to be taking the Rapids to their first win of the season after they had been set a 152 target.

She dominated an opening stand of 64 with Nikki Chaudhuri (11) who was run out.

But the game changed after Adcock, having struck 11 fours in her 100 ball knock, was also run out at 102-4.

The last six wickets fell for 19 runs including vice-captain and keeper Chloe Hill (0) who became the third run out victim of the innings.

The Rapids were bowled out for 121 in 43.4 overs.

Earlier Emily Arlott and Clare Boycott had taken the honours with the ball for the Rapids after Durham had elected to bat.

Boycott made the first breakthrough and then picked up two more wickets in the middle order to reduce Durham to 95-5 and she ended with figures of 9-2-21-3.

Arlott made inroads into the middle-lower order on the way to a return of 10-2-21-3.

Sarah Glen also bowled an excellent spell and finished with 1-14 from nine overs, three of which were maidens.

Durham were bowled out for 152 in 47.4 overs.
