Worcestershire Seconds wicket-keeper Joe Clarke scored his first double hundred in all forms of cricket on the opening day of the Second Eleven Championship match with the MCC Young Cricketers at Kidderminster.
The England Under-19 player batted through the entire day for an unbeaten 206 after home skipper Gareth Andrew had won the toss and elected to bat.
Clarke struck five sixes and 23 balls and faced 307 balls during his six and a half hour innings as Worcestershire closed on 388-5 from 104 overs.
Matt Pardoe departed for six, caught at second slip by Sam Arthurton off Palash Joshi, but then Clarke and Ross Whiteley (57) added 143 for the second wicket in 44 overs.
Whiteley was eventually caught behind by Rhys Davies off Zain Shahzad and Brett D'Oliveira (7) fell at deep square leg to Liam Gough off Afaq Babar.
But then Andrew joined forces with Clarke and helped him put on 140 for the fourth wicket in 30 overs.
Andrew fell to a catch at mid off by Matt Renshaw off Dan Hampton for 55.
Ed Barnard (23) was then bowled by Mohammed Abid after a partnership of 60 with Clarke.
