Skipper Joe Leach and Josh Tongue picked up three wickets apiece as Kent were dismissed for 260 on day one of the Specsavers County Championship promotion clash at New Road.
Leach lifted his season's tally to 36 and the fiery Tongue also impressed as the County responded in fine style after their Royal London One-Day Cup semi-final setback against Surrey.
With John Hastings, Ed Barnard and Moeen Ali also chipping in, the visitors were dismissed in 73.1 overs after electing to bat.
Leach bowled an inspired opening spell. He sent back openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sean Dickson during an initial burst of 7-3-7-2 from the New Road end.
Bell-Drummond (1) had been rapped on the hand by a Leach delivery before nicking through to Daryl Mitchell at first slip.
Then Dickson (7) tried to work the ball on the leg side and the ball struck his pads and bounced onto the stumps.
Kent skipper Sam Northeast was fortunate on 22 to edge Ed Barnard just short of Ross Whiteley at first slip.
But the former England Under-19 player did breakthrough when Joe Denly (12) drove straight to Brett D'Oliveira at point.
Northeast was unbeaten on 39 and Joe Weatherley seven at lunch when Kent were 73-3 off 30 overs.
The wickets continued to tumble after the interval and Northeast (42) was undone by a ball from Tongue which leapt up and Mitchell accepted the chance at second slip.
It became 88-5 in the next over as Joe Weatherley (11) hit out a widish Leach delivery and nicked through to keeper Ben Cox.
Tongue worked up a good degree of pace and Will Gidman (12) could only fend a ball through to Cox who completed the catch.
Darren Stevens played aggressively for his 39 but then flat batted Hastings to the safe hands of Barnard at deep extra cover.
Kent were then 139-7 but Matt Coles and Adam Rouse counter-attacked and brought up their 50 partnership in eight overs.
It needed Tongue to return and break the stand as Rouse (34) provided Mitchell with his third catch of the innings.
By tea Kent had reached 230-8 from 64 overs with Coles unbeaten on 47.
But Coles lasted only three balls after the interval before he was trapped lbw by Moeen on the back foot.
Hastings polished off the innings as Yasir Shah (17) holed out to Leach at mid on.
Leach finished with 3-42, Tongue 3-56, Hastings 2-44, Barnard 1-52 and Moeen 1-48.
When Worcestershire batted, Brett D'Oliveira (0) was caught at second slip off Stevens.
Moeen adopted an ultra aggressive approach and there were nine fours in his 37 off 16 balls before he pulled Coles into the hands of deep mid wicket.
It became 48-3 when Mitchell was pouched at third slip off Coles but Joe Clarke looked in good form and was well supported by George Rhodes in his first appearance of the season.
