Worcestershire CCC skipper Joe Leach has become a member of the Worcestershire Ambassadors – and strengthened the County Cricket Club’s link with the organisation.
Joe has joined Worcestershire CEO Matt Rawnsley, Board member and former chairman Stephen Taylor and current players Moeen Ali and Daryl Mitchell in becoming part of a group of individuals who have a common mission to promote the county of Worcestershire.
Worcestershire Ambassadors were formed in 2000 by Worcestershire County Council and it draws together leaders of industry and enterprise, celebrities, and those in public life – media, arts, and sport.
New members of the Worcestershire Ambassadors – including Joe – were officially welcomed at an event hosted by the Ambassadors’ Board at the Crown and Sandys, Ombersley.
Fifty Worcestershire Ambassadors attended to welcome 30 new members. The evening was hosted by new Chair of the Worcestershire Ambassadors, Kevin Powell.
The event allowed new members to meet the Board and other existing Ambassadors as well as providing the opportunity to formally announce the Worcestershire Ambassadors’ two chosen charities for this year in St Paul’s Hostel and the Worcester Community Trust.
Joe Leach said: “It is a great honour to be invited to be one of the Worcestershire Ambassadors. It is a really worthwhile organisation I’ve been aware of for a little period of time.
“I will be proud to represent the County and all that the Ambassadors try and do to promote the county of Worcestershire and in supporting their chosen charities.”
Chair Kevin Powell commented: “This is an exciting time for the Worcestershire Ambassadors, promoting our county and all the amazing things we offer.
“As part of this, we are driving membership forward this year and have already seen an increase in members.
“The enthusiasm and passion for Worcestershire and the Ambassadors from everyone attending tonight was inspirational. It was great to see so many of our membership here to welcome new faces.”
