Worcestershire CCC chairman Stephen Taylor has welcomed the election of Gordon Lord and Richard Law to the Worcestershire CCC Board and said: “they are a great fit for the club going forward.”
Former County opening batsman Gordon Lord was elected by members at the AGM this week to serve on the board as a replacement director for Neal Radford.
Successful businessman Richard Law FRICS was also elected as a director.
Lord spent a decade as a professional cricketer before spearheading a coaching revolution during a 25 year spell with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
He is now the England Rugby Football Union’s Head Of Professional Coach Development after being appointed early in 2017.
Law was a senior partner of property consultants and chartered surveyors, Bruton Knowles, taking the practice from a traditional rural Gloucester based entity to a national practice providing services to the private, corporate and public sector.
He has extensive knowledge of public sector procurement and of providing estate management and valuation services including property and performance audits to county, borough, district and city councils and police authorities.
Taylor said: “Members have voted Gordon and Richard onto the Worcestershire CCC Board as directors and it is great to have people of this standing on the Board.
“These guys are a perfect fit for the requirements of the current Board going forward and also both have Worcestershire County Cricket Club at heart.
“Many of the members will remember Gordon as an accomplished opening batsman but since then he has developed great skills in coaching and been at the forefront of that area in the ECB.
“Now his talents have been recognised by the RFU as well.
“Richard has tremendous business acumen and is an expert in many sorts of fields and his knowledge can only be of benefit to the club.
“We are delighted that members have given their approval to Gordon and Richard joining the Board and they will be great assets to the County.”
