County Have Three Bowlers In Top Ten Of Leading Championship Wicket-Takers

County Have Three Bowlers In Top Ten Of Leading Championship Wicket-Takers

Worcestershire have three bowlers in the top 10 of the LV = County Championship Division Two averages ahead of the next round of matches.

Saeed Ajmal, who has now returned to Pakistan, is the leading wicket-taker with 63 wickets in nine games.

But also amongst the top 10 are opening bowlers Jack Shantry and Charlie Morris with 34 wickets apiece.

What is equally impressive is that the economy rate in terms of runs per over of each bowler is 2.48, 2.75 and 2.66 respectively.

That is a testament to the emphasis on bowling a disciplined line and length placed by bowling coach Matt Mason during the winter.

On the batting front Daryl Mitchell remains the second highest run scorer in the country behind Hampshire's James Vince.

Mitchell has amassed 1,040 runs with three hundreds and four fifties at an average of 74.28.

Alexei Kervezee is also in the top 20 with 636 runs at an average of nearly 40.
