Ben Cox and Otago Volts are relying on other results to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Super Smash in New Zealand.
The Worcestershire wicket-keeper batsman and the Volts are currently lying in fifth spot in the sixth team table in the T20 competition.
Only the top three go through to the next phase with the second and third teams playing off in a preliminary final and with the victors meeting the group winners in the grand final.
To stay in contention, the Rapids Vitality Blast finals day hero Cox and Co must first hope third placed Central Districts fail to defeat Wellington tomorrow (Friday) or they are eliminated.
If that scenario happens, then the Volts have to overcome bottom placed Canterbury Kings in Christchurch on Saturday and group leaders Northern Districts Knights in Mount Maunganui on February 5 to stay in touch.
The Volts have won two of their eight matches, been beaten in four games and suffered two no results.
Callum Ferguson’s side, Sydney Thunder’s hopes of going through to the semi-finals of the Big Bash are also hanging by a thread.
The Worcestershire batsman has been in fine form in recent games and remains the competition’s third highest run-scorer with 369 at an average of 33.54 and a strike rate of 141.37.
But the Thunder have slipped down to fifth place with two group games remaining and are two points adrift of fourth team Melbourne Stars who have a game in hand.
Ferguson and the Thunder face Sydney Sixers on Saturday and then tackle leaders Hobart Hurricanes in Canberra on February 9.
From 12 group games, the Thunder have registered five wins, six losses and one no result.
