County Offer Subsidised Travel To Members For Opening Game Of Season

Worcestershire CCC members will be able to take advantage of subsidised travel for away matches this summer – starting with the opening Specsavers County Championship match with Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium.

Managing director Jon Graham confirmed that the County will be operating a coach from New Road to at least one day of the match in Cardiff which gets underway on Friday, April 14.

Details and the price will be announced shortly but the package will include admission to the stadium as part of an agreement with Glamorgan which will be reciprocal for the Championship game between the two counties at New Road from June 9-12.

It is part of Worcestershire's initiative to give members greater value for money this summer with a promotional price offering £20 off 2017 club and premium memberships until the end of January plus another £30 for using direct debit.

Graham said: " Our membership have always been very strong and the loyalty of our membership is staggering really and something we don't take for granted.

"That is why we are going to be investing in the membership this year rather than just taking the money, sending out the cards and seeing everyone in the summer.

"We are working very hard on the away day initiative.

"There will definitely be a trip to Glamorgan for members for at least one day of the first game of the season – and we are going to do more of the same.

"It is another incentive to buy a membership and we will be running coaches from New Road on selected games.

"Because of our later start for cricket at New Road this summer (April 21), we wanted to try and get a deal done for the first County Championship game.

"So, if you are a new member or existing member, then you get first priority on seats on the coach to Cardiff – backwards and forward on the same day.

"There will be a package and, if you are on the coach, then it includes the admission price although you will need to have your membership card.

"It is a package arranged between ourselves and Glamorgan and will be reciprocal for the match at New Road. We will know the price in the next week or so."
