County Overseas Signing Abbott To Compete In Ipl For Kings X1 Punjab

Worcestershire 2016 overseas player Kyle Abbott will be competing in this year's Indian Premier League.

The South African paceman has been sold via auction to the Kings X1 Punjab for the tournament which runs from April 9 until May 29.

It will be 28-year-old Abbott's second stint in the T20 competition.

Last year he was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad – along with another Worcestershire  2016 signing in New Zealand paceman Matt Henry.

Abbott is due to arrive at New Road in early July and remain until the end of the campaign in late September.

Former Worcestershire player, Colin Munro, has been signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2016 IPL.

Munro represented the County in the T20 Blast during the 2014 and 2015 campaigns in addition to playing in last sumer's County Championship match with Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.
