Worcestershire wicket-keeper-batsman Alex Milton celebrated his call-up into the senior squad by helping Cardiff to achieve a league and cup double this weekend.
Milton hit 51 not out as Cardiff overcame home side Penarth in their final fixture to win the South Wales Premier Cricket League Premier Division title.
Then he followed that up by making an unbeaten 77 as Cardiff triumphed in the Welsh Cricket Cup final when defeating Colwyn Bay.
Milton, in the senior Worcestershire squad for today’s Specsavers County Championship match with Gloucestershire, ended the league campaign with 1,103 runs at an average of 84.85.
He struck five hundreds and seven half centuries in just 17 knocks.
Cardiff totalled 236-7 against Penarth with Milton batting for 107 balls and hitting four boundaries.
He shared in a second wicket stand of 96 with Connor Brown (73) who then added a further 63 for the fourth wicket with Alun Thomas (40).
Brown also amongst the wickets with 4-34 while Tom Barry returned 4-25 as Penarth were dismissed for 110.
Cardiff ended with 268 points from their 18 matches – five more than 2016 champions Newport.
In the Welsh Cup final, Milton and Umar Malik (52 not out) saw Cardiff to victory with an unbroken stand of 101.
Colwyn Bay totalled 178-9 in their 40 overs with Barry (3-30) and Prem Sisodiya (4-15) their main destroyers.
Cardiff were 78-4 at one stage in reply but opener Milton and Malik then settled the issue after joining forces.
Milton’s 99 ball knock contained six fours.
