Worcestershire CCC again have several players in contention to be selected for the English Schools Cricket Association Bunbury Cricket Festival.

Rehaan Edavaleth, Ollie Halion, Ollie Walker, Harry Cooke and Reeve Evitts have attended various trials from which the squads for the four-team tournament will eventually be selected in mid July.

The 32nd Bunbury Festival is being held at Millfield School from August 5 to 10 and will showcase the skills of 56 of the most talented England Under-15 players in the country.

A constant stream of Worcestershire Academy and pathway players have been selected for the Bunburys in recent years in addition to the Super Fours – the Under-17s version of the Bunburys.

It is a testament to the conveyor belt of young talent being constantly produced at Blackfinch New Road under Academy Coach Elliot Wilson.

David English’s annual Bunbury Festival has helped discover and nurture many talented cricketers.

More than 300 Bunburys have gone onto play first class cricket – and over 60 have represented England according to the Bunburycricket.com website.

Wilson said: “The Bunburys have had one indoor and one outdoor trial day at Denstone College, Uttoxeter near Alton Towers and we had a number of our lads were there.

“Rehaan Edavaleth, Ollie Halion, Ollie Walker, Harry Cooke and Reeve Evitts were there.

“Some of them then went to Worfield Cricket Club for another round of observations. We’ve got four or five in the mix.

“The final squad is announced July 12-13th July and the Super Fours towards the end of July.”
