County Players Set Pace In Batting And Bowling Charts

County Players Set Pace In Batting And Bowling Charts

Worcestershire have the leading run-scorer in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship – and three bowlers in the top six of wicket-takers.

Daryl Mitchell took his run tally to 1,138 this summer after scores of 58 and 34 in the six wicket win over Leicestershire at New Road.

The 33-year-old has chalked up six centuries – his best ever haul in a season – plus three fifties.

Mitchell leads the way from Leicestershire skipper Mark Cosgrove (1,031) with Joe Denly (Kent) on 1,013.

Durham’s Paul Collingwood and Kent’s Sam Northeast are the other players to have topped 1,000 runs with 1,011 apiece.

On the wicket-taking front, Worcestershire skipper Joe Leach is leading the way with 63 scalps in 13 matches despite having to manage a slight side strain for the past two matches.

He is just two short of last season’s tally of 65 victims which was achieved in 16 games.

But also in the top six are County paceman Josh Tongue (45) and all-rounder Ed Barnard (43).

Sandwiched in between are Liam Norwell (Gloucestershire) with 58 wickets, Sussex’s Jofra Archer – also on 58 – and Kent’s Darren Stevens (57).
