worcestershire ccc first team scorer sue drinkwater has been chosen to officiate at four matches during the icc world cup – including the final at lord’s on july 14.
sue will be the official scorer in group matches at bristol between afghanistan and australia (june 1) and pakistan v sri lanka (june 7).
she will also be at the helm for one of the semi-finals at edgbaston on july 11 before being the dls match manager for the final.
the county’s analyst and other first team scorer, phil mellish, also officiated at one of the world cup warm-up games between pakistan and afghanistan at bristol.
all of this year’s world cup matches are being scored by county scorers as was the case at the 2017 champions trophy and 2017 women’s world cup.
sue, who scores all of worcestershire’s home games at New Road is no stranger to officiating at such prestigious occasions.
two years ago she was the designated official scorer for the south africa side for the opening test against england at lord’s.
sue has been scoring for 40 years after learning the ropes with cheltenham club side prestbury cc and then graduating to chedworth cc.
she said: “it is an honour and a privilege to be selected for all of these games in the world cup and it will be a special day to be part of the team for the final at lord’s.
“all of the world cup games are being scored by county scorers and are appointed by the association of county cricket scorers.”
