County Signings Wessels And Parnell Taking Part In T10 League In Sharjah

New Worcestershire CCC signings, batsman Riki Wessels and all-rounder Wayne Parnell, are returning to Sharjah later this month to play in the second edition of the inaugural T10 League.

Wessels, who has signed a three year contract with Worcestershire until the end of the 2021 season, will link up with Bengal Tigers.

The ex Nottinghamshire player had previously played in Sharjah last month for Kandahar Knights in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) T20 competition.

Wessels, who will celebrate his 33rd birthday on Sunday, will be part of a Tigers squad which includes former Worcestershire paceman Zaheer Khan.

Also part of the Tigers line-up are West Indian star Sunil Narine, Jason Roy, Luke Wright, Sam Billings and Morne Morkel whose efforts with the ball helped Surrey lift the Specsavers County Champiomship title.

Wessels and the Tigers will first be in action on November 22 against Punjabi Legends.

They will also play Maratha Arabians – the team Worcestershire all-rounder Ross Whiteley played for in the 2017 tournament – on November 23 and Northern Warriors two days later.

Parnell, who has also signed a three year contract with Worcestershire from 2019 to 2021 after helping the Rapids to Vitality Blast glory last summer, is to play for Kerala Kings.

He featured last month for Kabul Zwanan in the APL.

Included in the Kings squad are England white ball captain, Eoin Morgan, Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard.

They will open their campaign on November 21 versus Pakhtoon with the other teams in their group being Rajputs and Karachians.

The eight teams taking part will initially feature in two groups of four.

The two groups will then feature in a series of play-offs, semi-finals and eliminators to decide who contests the final on December 2.
