County Staging Disney Classic Jungle Book As Outdoor Cinema Event

County Staging Disney Classic Jungle Book As Outdoor Cinema Event

Worcestershire CCC are staging another of their popular Outdoor Cinema Events this summer with Disney classic 'The Jungle Book' being screened at New Road on Sunday, July 2.

Families will have the chance to sing and dance to classic tunes such as 'The Bare Necessities' and 'I Wanna Be Like You' from the 1967 film.

It follows on from the success of last year's Outdoor Cinema Events when 'The Lion King' and 'Finding Nemo' were shown at the County's headquarters in June and August respectively.

Tickets will again be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for juniors – Under-17 or under – with a family ticket for two adults and two juniors costing £25 (Under-2s go free).

There will be entertainment for children – including a bouncy castle and inflatable slides – after the gates open at 11am as Worcestershire strive to make the day "a real family experience."

The Graeme Hick Pavilion and Chestnut Marquee will be open to serve food and drink although film goers are welcome to bring their own refreshments.

Managing Director Jon Graham said: "Lion King last year was an unbelievable success and we are trying to replicate that with another real inconic Disney movie that has got the music element and appeals to be a real broad audience.

"For 'Finding Nemo' we partnered up with a local firm that provided a bouncy castle and an inflatable slide and things like that which will be back this year and we are going to try and make it more of a family fun day.

"For the two films last year, the feedback has been really positive. It evolves year by year and we are getting better at that concept and there is no better location as we know.

"It's not like the normal cinema experience where you pay quite a lot for your ticket and then pay for lots of other things and you are in and out.

"We will be looking to fill the day for the family so they've got lots of things to do. On hopefully what is a sunny, summer's day in July everyone will have a good time and a sing and a dance.

"The Hick Pavilion and The Marquee will be open, there will be food and beverages available although people can bring their own refreshments if they wish."

Graham confirmed that Worcestershire intend to stage a second Outdoor Cinema Event during 2017.

He said: "We will be doing another Outdoor Cinema Event later on in the summer and it might be a little bit different, something more for the grown ups and potentially on a Saturday night."

Car parking is £2 per car on a first come, first serve basis, and Jungle Book is scheduled to start at 2pm.
