Saeed Ajmal continued the devastating form he has shown for Worcestershire in helping the MCC defeat the Rest of the World by seven wickets at Lord's to mark the 200th anniversary of cricket first being played on the ground.
The Pakistan spinner revelled in performing in front of a full house with a devastating four wicket burst in his first three overs to reduce the Rest of The World from 54-1 to 68-5.
Ajmal struck with his first ball when Adam Gilchrist was superbly stumped by Chris Read for 29.
The 36-year-old broke through again in his second over when Tamim Iqbal was adjudged lbw for one.
Over number three accounted for Kevin Pietersen (10) who failed to pick Ajmal bowling down the slope and provided Read with a second stumping.
Two balls later Ajmal's Pakistan team-mate Shahid Afridi was bowled for nought.
At that stage Ajmal had the startling figures of 4-5 from three overs and he bowled only one more over before being taken out of the attack.
MCC skipper Sachin Tendulkar was no doubt mindful of the danger of Ajmal running through the ROW side at such an early stage of the game – not what the full house woud have wanted.
Ajmal did not return until 172-5 after 33 overs and his first delivery saw Paul Collingwood dropped at deep wicket.
He eventually finished with figures of 4-45 from 10 overs.
Yuvraj Singh's 132 helped the Rest of the World to reach 293-7 from 50 overs but Aaron Finch's unbeaten 181 saw the MCC to victory by seven wickets with 4.1 overs to spare.
