COUNTY STAR FERGUSON AND THE THUNDER HIT BY FLOODLIGHT FAILURE

COUNTY STAR FERGUSON AND THE THUNDER HIT BY FLOODLIGHT FAILURE

callum ferguson played an important supporting role to sydney thunder centurion shane watson – but a floodlit failure denied his side probable victory in the latest big bash clash with home side brisbane heat.

worcestershire batsman ferguson came to the wicket at 58-1 and added 64 in eight overs with watson.

the 33-year-old, who is returning to New Road on may 1, helped watson ensure the thunder capitalised on their fine start.

ferguson made a steady 18 off 16 deliveries with two boundaries.

he was dismissed with the total on 122 in the 15th over when caught at long on by brendon mccullum off a full toss from brendan doggett.

watson’s 100 from 62 balls with six sixes and eight fours lifted the thunder to 186-4 in their 20 overs.

they then reduced brisbane to 10-2 from three overs but then the floodlights failed and both sides had to settle for one point.

ferguson and the thunder are now occupying third spot in the table with nine points – one less than second placed melbourne renegades and three behind leaders hobart hurricanes.
