County Star Moeen Ali Making His Mark In Icc Rankings

Moeen Ali’s impressive performances for England are reflected in his current standing in the ICC rankings for Test and ODI cricket.

The Worcestershire player is occupying seventh spot in the Test all-rounder rankings with 299 points after his eight-wicket haul in the first Test with Sri Lanka.

That took Moeen’s wicket tally to 20 in three games since earning a Test recall towards the end of last summer.

His England colleague Ben Stokes is just ahead in fifth spot on 341 points with ex Worcestershire player Shakib Al Hasan, who had three spells with the County, leading the way on 411 points.

Moeen is rated the sixth best all-rounder in the ODI rankings on 289 points and is the best placed England player – ahead of Chris Woakes in eighth position (278 points).

It is an indication of the key role that the 31-year-old is playing for his country in both red and white ball cricket.

In the Test bowling charts, Moeen has climbed above Stokes into 27th spot after taking his wicket haul past the 150 mark in Galle last week.

He has amassed 590 points – nine more than Stokes who is lying 28th. Ahead of Moeen are Stuart Broad (14th – 727 points) and Jimmy Anderson (1st – 896 points.)

Moeen was dismissed for 10 earlier today on day one of the second Test in Kandy after reverting from a number three role to number six.
