County Still Right In The Hunt For Promotion After Double Setback

County Still Right In The Hunt For Promotion After Double Setback

Worcestershire are still well in the hunt for promotion despite losing their last two matches against Sussex and Glamorgan in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship.

The County are currently lying in third spot – just eight points outside of the top two who will automatically go up to Division One.

And next on the agenda in the competition for Worcestershire is a home match starting next Monday (June 19) with the side immediately above them in Kent.

It will be the only meeting between the two counties this summer in the four-day competition now that it is asymmetrical.

Worcestershire have acquired the second highest number of batting bonus points in the division with 20 out of a possible 30 after Leicestershire (21).

They have achieved the maximum haul on three occasions – by topping 400 inside 110 overs – against Glamorgan, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire – all away from New Road.

Bowling-wise, they have the equal fifth best number of points – 16 out of a possible 18 and dropped their only points versus Sussex at Hove.

Teams have to claim three, six and nine wickets inside 110 overs to collect the points.
