Worcestershire Country Cricket Club have further cemented their relationship with Cricket Shropshire by providing them with ticket offers for clubs, junior players and sponsors in the county and also giving the opportunity for their coaches and players to improve.

Several members of the current first team squad at New Road including skipper Joe Leach, Ed Barnard, Joe Clarke and Jack Shantry initially developed via the Shropshire age groups-pathway and-or satellite academy at Shrewsbury School under Paul Pridgeon.

And coaches and promising players will be able to participate in coaching development and development of excellent programmes at New Road and Malvern College.

But in addition clubs in Shropshire will be able to be benefit from a discount tickets code for Specsavers County Championship games being played at New Road.

The code can be used when contacting Worcestershire to buy tickets, although it is limited to ten tickets per purchase.

Cricket Shropshire has also been offered five bundles of 20 tickets for Specsavers County Championship games.

These will be made available in the first instance to groups of players who represent Shropshire Cricket at County level.

Worcestershire have also issued an invitation to families and friends on the County Age Group player pathway to join events in the McMinn Marquee.

Friends and Families of the Pathway lunches will be held on August 8 during the Championship game versus Sussex and September 12, during the Championship clash with Leicestershire and include a Q and A session with Worcestershire president Norman Gifford.

Worcestershire are also looking at introducing other discount codes for other games at New Road including 50 over, England Under 19s and England Lions games and some T20s.

Worcestershire Academy Coach Elliot Wilson said: “We have developed strong links with Shropshire in recent years with our Satellite Academy based at Shrewsbury School which has seen a number of players successfully graduate to First Class cricket.

"It is good to continue that relationship between Worcestershire CCC, Worcestershire Cricket and Shropshire Cricket, to provide opportunities for supporters to be involved in watching cricket at New Road but also to provide opportunities for players and coaches in Shropshire to continually get better.

"Some of their coaches will be involved in some of our coaching development sessions that we do at New Road and we are going to spend some time with the coaches up there.

"Some of the players are spending time in our development of excellence programme or working with our academy programmes.

"It has been a really healthy relationship. We all know the players that have come from Shropshire in recent times, the likes of Richard Oliver and Jack Shantry who have come from different routes to the guys like Joe Leach, Ed Barnard and Joe Clarke who have come from the more traditional routes.

"Now we've got people involved in the Academy like Dillon Pennington, Xavier Clarke and Ryan Wheldon and we are hopeful one, if not all of them, will progress through onto professional terms over the next three to five years

“We are keen to support cricket in Shropshire in any way we can, and we will be delighted to see members of the cricket community in Shropshire at New Road.”
