COUNTY SWITCHING TO RED BALL MODE FOR TWO DAY CLASH WITH ESSEX

COUNTY SWITCHING TO RED BALL MODE FOR TWO DAY CLASH WITH ESSEX

Worcestershire’s players have been going through the fifth and final training day of their Abu Dhabi trip today before starting the final leg of the tour.

The County already have three 50 over matches under their belts against Somerset, Essex and Warwickshire.

It has been a hugely beneficial exercise with players either spending time at the crease or getting overs under their belts.

Tomorrow they will make the switch to red ball mode when they take on 2017 County Champions Essex.

It will be a two-day affair at the Zayed Stadium.

Worcestershire will spend the entire first day in the field and then will bat for all of the second day. Both days will consist of three two-hour sessions.

First Team Coach Alex Gidman has named a 12 strong squad.

Worcestershire:

Tom Fell

George Rhodes

Brett D’Oliveira

Alex Milton

Riki Wessels

Ross Whiteley

Ben Cox (captain)

Ed Barnard

Josh Tongue

Adam Finch

Charlie Morris

Ben Twohig

Worcestershire will then travel back to the United Kingdom on Wednesday ahead of a three-day match with Warwickshire at Edgbaston from March 26-28.

That will be followed by the final white ball warm-up fixture ahead of the Royal London One-Day Cup – against Gloucestershire at Kidderminster on April 1.
