County T20 Blast Signing Munro Leading Six Hitter In Plunket Shield

County T20 Blast Signing Munro Leading Six Hitter In Plunket Shield

Worcestershire's NatWest T20 Blast overseas signing, Colin Munro, is top of the six-hitting charts for Auckland in the first class Plunket Shield competition.

Munro, who is returning to New Road this summer, has demonstrated that his ability to clear the ropes is not confined to 50 over and T20 cricket.

The 27-year-old has hit 17 sixes and the only other player into double figures is Doug Bracewell with 11 for Central Districts.

Munro's efforts have helped Auckland to the top of the Plunket Shield after six of the 10 matches ahead of tomorrow's (Monday's) away clash with Otago at the University Oval, Dunedin.

He has scored 485 runs in 11 innings at an average of 44.09 with one century and three fifties.

Auckland are level on 66 points with Northern Districts with Canterbury just one point behind in third spot.

Munro was Worcestershire's second highest scorer in the T20 Blast last summer behind skipper Daryl Mitchell and he will be back at New Road in May.

But he also has a healthy record in first class cricket.

In 33 matches spanning 50 innings, Munro has scored seven hundreds and 10 fifties with 2,223 runs at an average of 47.29 and a strike rate of 89.02.
