County Trio Shine With Ball In Test Cricket During 2017

A trio of bowlers who have played for Worcestershire this summer are amongst the top 10 leading wicket-takers in Test cricket during 2017.

Nathan Lyon, Ravichandran Ashwin and Moeen Ali have all enjoyed a successful time with the ball for Australia, India and England respectively during the past 10 months.

And a former Worcestershire player in Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is currently occupying 11th spot.

It once again highlights the quality of overseas player – in the case of Lyon, Ashwin and Al Hasan – that the County have been able to attract and supporters have been able to enjoy watching.

Lyon, Australia’s number one off-spinner, has taken 46 wickets in seven Tests during this calendar year.

Ashwin is not far behind with 44 victims in eight Tests before he joined up at New Road for a successful end of season period which culminated in promotion in the Specsavers County Championship.

In 2016 Moeen and India star Virat Kohli were the only players to hit four Test centuries and the former has this year shown his form with the ball with a return of 30 victims from seven Tests.
