Worcestershire Under-17s collected nine points from their drawn ECB County Championship match with Hampshire Under-17s at Stourbridge after George Metzger hit 192 for the visitors on the final day.
The home side were pushing strongly for victory after Hampshire, who resumed on 31-0, were reduced to 111-4 – an overall lead of just six runs.
Henry Marshall claimed two of those wickets and was also involved in the run out of opener Cole Campbell.
But opener Metzger and Abbay Gonella then featured in the decisive stand of 185 for the fifth wicket.
Pete Clark eventually broke the stand by trapping Gonella lbw for 66 from 98 balls with one six and nine fours.
Then nine runs later Clark struck again when Metzger, whose knock contained 32 fours and spanned 211 deliveries, also departed leg before at 305-6.
Jake Nichols dominated the remainder of the Hampshire innings in also making 66 – from 70 balls with one six and 10 fours – before the two sides shook hands at 381-9 from 88 overs – a lead of 276.
Clark finished with 3-91 and there were also two wickets apiece for Riecko Parker-Cole (2-78) and Henry Marshall (2-45).
The Under-17s will again be in Championship action from next Monday (July 16) when they take on Somerset Under-17s at Batch in a three-dayer.
