County’s Off The Field Staff All Geared Up For Busy New Road Schedule

County’s Off The Field Staff All Geared Up For Busy New Road Schedule

The cricket season might nearly be over but the real busy time of the year is only just beginning for Worcestershire CCC in terms of their off-the-pitch activities.

The bookings are already pouring in for the traditional Christmas parties held at New Road each year in the Graeme Hick pavilion and The View.

Very few dates are left in December for the £35 a head tickets which include a four course meal, crackers, novelties, a disco until midnight plus a visit from a very special guest!

Then in the New Year the emphasis will switch to the wedding market with the New Road venues ideal in catering for for receptions of all sizes.

Plans are also in hand for an array of events to mark the club's 150th anniversary in 2015, details of which will be announced shortly.

Worcestershire business director Jon Graham said: "We've got a really vibrant Xmas party market now.

"We are pretty much sold out in December. We've still got availability in November and a couple of dates in January.

"But then we've really got to target the wedding market in the first quarter of 2015."

The current hectic schedule for Graham and the Worcestershire off the field team is a far cry from the days when the club would wind down at the end of the cricket season.

Graham said: "Historically, as soon as you got to September, the lights would go off and people would say 'that was a busy summer.'

"This is our busy time now. For 310 days of the year, we are a business, not necessarily a cricket club.

"We've got to get 310 days right, not just 50 days of cricket right."
