Worcestershire kept alive their hopes of claiming runners-up spot in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship after a dramatic 11 run win over Sussex at Hove.
And fittingly it was Miguel Cummins who put the seal on a fifth success of the campaign with a burst of three wickets in eight balls.
The West Indian paceman set off on a lap of honour before being mobbed by his team-mates after yorking last man Steve Magoffin for a duck as Sussex were dismissed for 260.
Cummins completed his second five wicket haul of the game – 5-82 – and finished with match figures of 12-166 in only his second appearance for the County.
It put the seal on a memorable game of cricket which see-sawed in favour of one team than the other on a tense third and final day.
Cummins was well supported by vice-captain Joe Leach, who picked up another three wickets, but of equal importance were two superb pieces of fielding by Brett D'Oliveira to run out Ollie Robinson and catch Danny Briggs.
Worcestershire are now back in third spot and have to collect a substantial points haul against Derbyshire in their final game and hope Kent slip up badly against champions Essex in the race for second place and £43,000 prize money.
Sussex began the day on 13-1 after Leach had picked up the vital scalp of Chris Nash yesterday evening with the final ball of the day.
Leach needed only two deliveries of that same over today to make a further breakthrough as he bowled Craig Cachopa (0).
Cummins trapped Ben Brown (26) lbw with a ball that cut back and in the next over Fynn Hudson-Prentice (20) shouldered arms and was bowled by Leach.
It became 96-5 when Philip Salt (17) was undone by a Charlie Morris delivery which stopped on him and Joe Clarke held a straightforward chance at mid off.
Only Ollie Robinson provided much resistance before lunch with 42.
But in the last over of the morning session he was run out by D’Oliveira’s direct hit running round from point after hesitation with Chris Jordan over a sharp single.
Worcestershire were then firmly in the driving seat with the home side 113-6 but for the second time in the game Chris Jordan provided strong resistance with the bat.
He and David Wiese more than doubled the score in a stand of 114 in just 22.4 overs.
Luck seemed to be running Sussex's way when Jordan's mis-timed pull off the indefatigable Cummins dropped just short of Oliveira at mid-wicket.
But Cummins finally dismissed his former Barbados team-mate when Jordan (50) nicked through to keeper Ben Cox.
Sussex advanced to 246-7 but then Cummins cleaned up the last three wickets in quickfire fashion.
Jofra Archer(16) edged to skipper Daryl Mitchell at slip and then D'Oliveira pulled off a magnificent catch at square leg after Briggs (1) whipped Cummins off his legs.
It was all over to the next delivery as Cummins yorked former New Road paceman Magoffin to leave Wiese unbeaten on 70.
