Day Of Toil For Second Eleven Bowlers As Glamorgan Top 400 At Chester Road

Worcestershire's bowlers were made to toil on the opening day of the Second Eleven Championship match with Glamorgan at Kidderminster.

Glamorgan opted to bat on winning the toss and reached 409-5 declared from 91 overs with Stewart Walters hitting a rapid century.

The home side will be hoping to make a similar sort of reply on Wednesday after reaching 38-0 by the close.

Tom Lancefield (86) and Murray Goodwin (67) laid the foundations of the Glamorgan innings with a second wicket stand of 152.

Walters then accelerated the scoring rate with 101 off just 89 balls with three sixes and 13 fours.

He was aided in a fourth wicket partnership of 128 by Aneurin Donald (60).

Shaaiq Choudhry picked up 2-98 from 17 overs and there was one wicket apiece for Graeme Whiles, Nick Harrison and Williams.

Choudhry hit 27 off just 30 balls with five fours in reply as he and Alex Hepburn negotiated the final 11 overs.

Gareth Andrew is skippering the Seconds but he is playing as a batsman as he continues his recovery from a back problem.
