Jamie McIlroy completed a five wicket haul on his debut and Tom Fell and Ollie Westbury shone with the bat as Worcestershire Seconds enjoyed a successful second day in the Championship match with Leicestershire Seconds at Rugby School.
Hereford-born left armer McIlroy picked up the last four wickets after Leicestershire had resumed on 350-6 and his morning spell of 7-0-17-4 enabled him to finish with 5-84 from 28 overs.
Then skipper Westbury and fellow opener Fell put Worcestershire in a strong position before an unbeaten half century from Alex Milton lifted the final total to 306-4 and a maximum haul of four batting points.
McIlroy, who plays for Herefordshire and has also had a spell with Glamorgan Seconds this season, struck with the first ball of the day when Charles Lowen was lbw.
He struck again two balls later as Moh Ahmed (0) was caught by Ryan Gibson at third slip.
Ben Mike (21) became another McIlroy victim and he ducked underneath a delivery but left his bat in the air and the ball struck it and looped to Ben Twohig at first slip.
McIlroy completed his five-for by bowling Hishaam Khan for nought and Leicestershire lost four wickets for 43 runs in 13 overs this morning.
When Worcestershire batted, Westbury and Fell put on 191 in 56 overs.
Westbury looked set for his fourth Championship hundred of the season but after reaching 97 from 169 balls with 11 fours, he was caught behind of Ateeq Javid.
Josh Dell (4) departed to the same combination before Fell completed his hundred off 192 balls.
He was eventually caught at point for 117 off 227 deliveries with 17 boundaries from the bowling of Khan who in his next over trapped Gibson (0) lbw.
But Milton, who added 75 with Fell, ended the day unbeaten on 57.
