Worcestershire 2018 overseas player Travis Head will have a key role to play if Australia are to avoid defeat on the final day of the first Test with Pakistan in Dubain.

The left hander is making his Test debut and was dismissed for a ninth ball duck in Australia’s first innings.

But Head showed his quality when Australia set off in pursuit of a daunting 462 target.

The 24-year-old came to the wicket after the loss of three wickets in quick succession to Mohammad Abbas.

Head added an unbroken 49 in 18.2 overs with Usman Khawaja as Australia closed the penultimate day on 136-3.

He struck an unbeaten 34 from 75 balls with four boundaries while Khawaja remained undefeated on 50.

Head played all formats of the game at Blackfinch New Road this summer.

Pakistan declared in their second innings at 181-6 after establishing a first innings lead of 280 but deciding not to enforce the follow on.

*Worcestershire all-rounder Wayne Parnell finished on the winning side as Kabul Zwanan defeated Nangarhar Leopards by seven wickets in the Afghanistan Premier League.

Parnell sent down four overs for 50 runs as the Leopards totalled 188-5 – a target which Kabul surpassed in 17.5 overs.
