Favourable Reviews Received For ‘pears 150’ Book From Top Authors

'Pears 150, the life and times of Worcestershire County Cricket Club 1865-2014' by Andrew Thomas has received favourable reviews from two of cricket's most respected historians and writers.

David Frith and Peter Wynne Thomas have been lavish in their praise of the book which was published in conjunction with the club's 150th Anniversary Year in 2015.

Frith writes: “Few cricket books have been genuinely classed as heavyweights. Nor have many monumental volumes been produced. But this is one of them.

“Averages and analyses, abbreviated scored of every single match, hundreds of pictures, many in colour, and plenty of thoughtful and sometimes amusing asides make it not only a Worcestershire fan’s dream but something out of the ordinary for any cricket lover.”

Wynne-Thomas writes: “Andrew Thomas has created a new format for County Histories, just as Eric Snow did with his Leicestershire book in 1949.

“For anyone with an interest in County Cricket this present volume is essential.”

Copies of Pears 150 have been on sale on match days, at the Supporters’ Association Shop behind the D’Oliveira Stand for £28, since June 2015. (postage is extra and considerable on this heavy paperback).

Remaining copies of Pears 150 will go on sale in 2016 at New Road on Sunday April 10 – the opening day of the 2016 season against Kent in the County Championship.

Once Pears 150 is sold out, without commercial sponsorship to pay for printing costs, there are no plans for an updated second edition somake sure of your copy.
