Tom Fell has been cleared to play grade cricket in Australia for the remainder of the winter after the results of his latest check-up following surgery for testicular cancer proved positive.
The Worcestershire batsman underwent further tests when he saw a specialist this week – one of the monthly check-ups he will now undergo – and received encouraging news when told of the results yesterday.
It means Fell has been given the green light to fly out to Perth on Monday (December 7) to play for Mount Lawley.
The 22-year-old has opted for regular monitoring and checks, which will continue Down Under, of his condition rather than undergoing two spells of chemotherapy
Fell said: "The results were all fine so please let everyone know who's been asking and I thank them for their support.
"I shall be playing for Mount Lawley, the team I had originally intended to play for a couple of months ago.
"I am looking forward to playing some cricket again and it's great news that I can go away until the end of February.
"I shall have the monthly check-ups in Australia, like the one I have had this week."
Fell was Worcestershire's leading run-scorer in the County Championship in 2015, passing 1,000 runs in a season for the first time with three centuries, and he signed a new three year contract in August up until the end of the 2018 season.
